| Two Great Events that Taste Great Together |

|
Foxfire's Fall Heritage Festival began in 1994, sharing the heritage of Southern Appalachia with one and all, while raising money to support Foxfire's ongoing student work programs. The event always featured practitioners of traditional skills and crafts, great traditional music, and honored the "contacts"—the mountain folk who shared the ways of the past with the numerous high school students who have worked to preserve the region's heritage in the pages ofThe Foxfire Magazine since 1966.
The original Mountaineer Festival ran from 1961 until 1978 as a lively social gathering where folks from all over northeast Georgia would listen to mountain music, dance, eat great food, and test their strength and agility against their neighbors in various contests and games. After an absence of 30 years, the Mountaineer Festival was revived in 2008.
Thanks to some providential scheduling complications in 2010, the opportunity came to combine these two great events, and an even bigger and better event was born. Welcome to the Foxfire Mountaineer Festival.
